Abstract

[Also in Division B1] A dispenser, in which components of the dispensing product to be dispensed (e.g. shaving lather) are kept isolated until use, comprises a pair of pressurized canisters 14 and 12 each having independent valve structures, the canisters being coupled by a dispensing head 16 which has a mixing chamber 88 in its spout 86. Dispensing and subsequent mixing of the components is achieved by depressing canister 14 so that valve plungers 54, 541 with valve seats 64, 64<SP>1</SP> are pushed away from gaskets 42, 42<SP>1</SP> by hollow stems 80, 82 respectively; this allows the contents of the canisters to be forced though chambers 50, 50<SP>1</SP> over the rims 64, 64<SP>1</SP> via slots 98, 100 into expansion chambers 90, 92 of stems 80, 82, and thence into the mixing chamber 88 to be mixed with the aid of a mixing spider 102 and dispensed. Other embodiments are described having dispensing heads adapted to take canisters having valve assemblies of the protruding stem type. A further embodiment is described in which the upper canister has a collapsible bellows-like configuration.
