Abstract

1,247,254. Crimping fibres. SPINNER OSAKEYHTIO. 15 Dec., 1969 [31 Oct., 1969], No. 60966/69. Heading D1F. Apparatus, shown in Figs. 1 and 2, for crimping a thermoplastic filament comprises first filament guide means 3, 4; a filament drawing device 6; second filament guide means 9 consisting of a freely rotatable roll on the periphery of which are guiding elements 17 for guiding the filament along a tortuous path; an oven 11; a crimping sleeve 13 rotating about its axis; and a second filament drawing device 14. The guiding elements may be a zigzagged guiding groove 17 or oblique guiding pins (Fig. 3, not shown). The angles formed in the zigzag path may be 90‹-160‹. The filament is preferably conducted on and off roll 9 through guides 21, 22 which are changeable in position to adjust the length of the contact path between the filament and the roll.
