1,246,795. Rod and tube couplings. BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE BETHLEM ROYAL HOSPITAL & MAUDSLEY HOSPITAL. 15 Nov., 1968 [16 Aug., 1967], No. 37745/67. Heading F2G. [Also in Division A4] Rods or tubes 5 of light metal alloy, e.g. aluminium, are assembled into a rigid framework for use e.g. as a display-supporting framework in a shop window, by coupling members each of which comprises two or more, e.g. two to six, elements 1 which are formed integrally by a moulding of resilient plastics material having bores to receive the rods or tubes 5 and including integral lugs 22 between which is received a plastic fitting 24 moulded on to the end of a diagonal brace rod or tube 23. Each rod 5 preferably has a groove, as shown, which co-operates with a reduced diameter portion of each of the bores to retain the rod thereon. Grooves are also preferably provided in the end portion of the brace rod 23 prior to moulding of the fitting 24 thereon.
