In a split-ring synchronized positive clutch for a change speed gear, the split-ring 2 is axially located by a washer 14 having inwardly directed tabs 10 which pass through recesses 11 in the hub 5 of a clutch element 6 and the tabs are retained within the recesses by a retaining 12. The tabs 10 may be axially displaced from the plane of the washer 14.
