Abstract
124,620. Quasi-Arc Co., and Cole, W. L. May 1, 1918. Addition to 108,190. Frames and framing.-In the construction oJ ships having welded bottom structures, the inner plating, floors, &c. b, instead of being secured to brackets as described in the parent Specification, are applied in lengths extending over the partitions d, e, the plates having slots therein to engage over tenons v. The welding is then effected by deposits of welding metal w around the tenons. The edges of the plates are connected by lines of welding for butt joints, as shown in Fig. 4, or with an under plate or butt strap j, Fig. 8; the holes z for temporary seouring-bolts are afterwards filled in with welded plugs, as described in Specification 112,750, [Class 83 (iv), Metals, Working]. The joints may, however, overlap and have fillet welrling along the edges. Fig. 1 shows the inner and outer plating temporarily secured to the floor plates d, e by hook bolts x.
