Abstract

1,245,950. Treating wood. INSINOORITOIMISTO A. MAKINEN & CO. KY. 18 Oct., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967], No. 49440/68. Heading D1P. [Also in Division B2] A porous board is treated by application of a flowable synthetic resin to one surface to thereby impregnate the board with the resin, the board is then transferred to a vacuum chamber in which it is subjected to vacuum for not greater than 5 minutes, after which the pressure is restored to ambient pressure and the product is removed from the vacuum chamber. The porous board may be plywood, staveboard, particle board, timber or fibre boards. The resin can be applied by roll or flow coating. The resin may subsequently be cured, e.g. in a hot press after the vacuum treatment.
