Abstract

1,012,254. Embossing. DEUTSCHE FIBRIT GESELLSCHAFT, EBERS & DR. MULLER m.b.H. Feb. 12, 1964, No. 5905/64. Heading B6J. Fibrous material is treated while moist with a water-compatible synthetic resin capable of setting hard, and then subjected to a drying process under the action of a heated embossing die. The resin may be a phenol-cresol ureaformaldehyde or melamine resin, applied as a powder or in solution, and mixed with paraffin wax. The treatment may be on one side only to allow escape of steam, or on both sides if equal expansion of both sides is necessary. Lacquer may be sprayed on the embossed surface. The die is rear-lined with heatable steel.
