Abstract

1,245,213. Jib cranes. J. I. CASE CO. 9 March, 1970 [24 April, 1969], No. 11182/70. Heading B8B. A crane with a telescopic main boom 16 has a telescopic jib boom 18 which, in the storage position shown in Fig. 7, is alongside the main boom 16 on supports 108 to which it is secured by fasteners 122. Brackets 62, 88 on assembly 28 have their left-hand pins 64, 96 removed so that they can be pivoted about their right-hand pins 64, 96 into line with the stored jib boom 18. Yoke bars 72 are then connected to tension bars 50, while pin 100 is received in bifurcations 98 of arms 92 where it is retained by removable pins 104. The jib boom 18 can then be pivoted into its operative position in line with the main boom 16 and the left-hand pins 64, 96 replaced. This arrangement allows the main boom 16 to be extended and retracted when the jib boom 18 is in the storage position.
