A foam-forming concentrate for fire-fighting comprises (a) a non-ethoxylated synthetic surfactant as foam-former, (b) a straight chain C 10 -C 14 fatty alcohol, and 1-10% by wt. of the concentrate of a C 10 -C 17 fatty acid alkanolamide, as foam stabilisers, and (c) 5-30% by wt. of a C 1 -C 4 monoalkanol and/or a glycol ether. Foam former (a) may be triethanolamine lauryl sulphate and/or triethanolamine dodecylbenzene sulphonate. The composition may also include a glycol, e.g. hexylene glycol, and 0.01-0.05% by wt. of a perfluorocarboxylic acid-derived surfactant C 7 F 15 .CONH(CH 2 ) 3 .N<SP>+</SP> (CH 3 ) 3 .
