Abstract

1279148 Cleaning composition for toilets DOW CHEMICAL CO 25 Aug 1969 [30 Sept 1968 28 Jan 1969] 42199/69 Heading C5D An aqueous cleaning composition for cleaning toilets and the like, has a pH of 7 to 12 and comprises (A) 0À25 to 15 parts of a chelating agent, (B) 1 to 5 parts of C 1 -C 4 alkanol, (C) 0À8 to 6 parts of C 2 -C 4 alkanolamine, (D) 1 to 5 parts each of a mixture of two or more C 1 -C 4 alkyl ether C 2 -C 4 alcohols, e.g. 2-butoxyethanol and l-methoxy-2-propanol, (E) water to 100 parts by weight. The chelating agent may be succinic acid, nitrilotriacetic acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid and their alkali metal salts. Optional ingredients are (a) anionic surfactants, e.g. alkylbenzenesulphonate, (b) non-ionic surfactant, e.g. ethylene oxide condensate of an alkyl phenol, (c) mixtures of (a) and (b), (d) germicides, e.g. O-phenylphenol and 4-chloro-2-cyclopentylphenol. The composition may be in the form of an aerosol with a propellant, e.g. isobutane or a fluorohydrocarbon. The composition is applied to the surface of a soil-bearing toilet, allowed to stand and then is rinsed off.
