[Also in Division C2] Polyamides are prepared from pure #- aminoalkanoic acids, the purification of the monomer having been effected by recrystallizing from a solvent mixture of a C 1-4 alkanol and water containing ammonia. 12-Aminododecanoic acid is polymerized (Example 5) in the presence of stearic acid, higher molecular weights being obtained from the pure monomer.
