Abstract

1,244,477. Lubricant base stock. STANDARD OIL CO. 14 May, 1970 [25 Sept., 1969], No. 23342/70. Headings C5E and C5F. A blended base oil for use as the main constituent in a 5-grade 10W50 motor oil consists of a mixture of solvent extracted neutral oils of 100 SSV and 300 SSV viscosity or 100‹ F. in a ratio of SEN 100 to SEN 300 of 3À63-3À72:1, and 30-35 wt. per cent dewaxed aromatic-free catalytically cracked oil stock. The blended base oil may be used in the motor oil in amount 23-40% by volume and the motor oil may contain an acrylate copolymer VI improver and a detergent comprising an ashless succinimide and zinc dithiophosphate.
