1,244,270. Converter linings. OSTERREICHISCH - AMERIKANISCHE MAGNESIT A.G. 30 Dec., 1969 [8 Jan., 1969], No. 63405/69. Heading F4B. The wearing lining 3 of the mouth of a converter is formed from superposed courses of refractory wedge bricks, those bricks A2 of one type forming the inner courses of the lining being turned through 180 degrees relative to the bricks Al of the other type forming the outer courses. This allows the lining to be formed from only two types of bricks, which have the same side profile but differing degrees of taper. Preferably the acute angled edges of the wedge bricks are slightly trimmed off to reduce the risk of their breakage.
