1,243,493. Increasing the dyeability of fibre forming polyesters. GLANZSTOFF A.G. 3 Feb., 1970 [11 Feb., 1969], No. 5073/70. Heading C3R. The dyeability of certain fibre forming polyesters is increased by the addition to the polyester before, during or after polycondensation of at least 0.5% by wt. of at least one sulphonate of the formula where R 1 , R 2 and R 5 are H or C 1-4 alkyl, R 3 is H, CH 3 or if ortho to the sulphoalkoxy radical it may be cyclohexyl, R 4 is H or CH 3 , n is 3-8 and M is a metal of valency x. The polyesters are derived from terephthalic acid and alkylene glycols and/or alicyclic glycols. The metal M may be an alkali or alkaline earth metal, or zinc.
