Abstract

1,243,224. Antiskid control systems. NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. 26 Nov., 1968 [1 March, 1968], No. 65962/68. Heading F2F. A logic control system responds to the difference between the fastest front wheel and slowest rear wheel to hold rear brake pressure when there is a small speed difference, and reduce pressure if there is a large speed difference. An over-ride control disables the antiskid system with low front wheel speed (e.g. front wheels locked). In an alternative system, Fig. 3 (not shown), the control responds to average front and rear wheel speed by summing alternate pulses from the front wheel speed sensors, and likewise at the rear. As shown, Fig. 1, sinusoidal signals from front wheel speed sensors 58a, 58b, trigger flip-flops 62, 64 to produce pulses which are compared at 70 to give a fastest-front-wheelsignal. A similar circuit at the rear produces slowest-rear-wheel-signals from comparator 72. These front and rear wheel signals are compared in logic-switching circuits 74, 76, illustrated in greater detail, Fig. 3 (not shown) and employing flip-flop counters controlling gate circuits. The output of "switch" 74 operates solenoid valve 48 to hold the rear brake pressure at a predetermined speed difference and "switch' 76 operates solenoid valve 50 to bleed rear brake pressure at a greater speed difference. Zero front wheel speed detector 102 disables the anti-skid control.
