[Also in Division H4] A plastics base-plate 1 of a telephone subset has an integrally formed support 43, Fig. 5, for a gong 42 projecting up into the subset. The top of the support 43 has integral extensions 44, 45 undercut to accommodate the thickness of metal of the gong 42. The top of the gong 42 has a slot whose outline corresponds to extensions 44, 45. The gong 42 may be placed on top of the support 43 with the extensions 44, 45 passed through the slot and then rotated until it snaps into an engaging position. The gong 42 is thereby detachably mounted on the support 43 without any additional fixing means. The gong 42 preferably turns about an eccentric axis so that the distance between the hammer (see Figs. 3, 4) and gong 42 may be adjusted. Preferably a circle of dimples or holes 47 in the top surface of the gong 42 is provided and a boss 48 on the underside of the extension 44 snaps into whichever dimple or hole is appropriate. One extension 44 may be finger-shaped and the other, 45, segment shaped. Alternatively, both extensions are finger-shaped. An electromagnetic ringer 32 is located on the subset base-plate 1 by a pivot pin 34 extending from beneath the ringer base-plate 33 into a hole 35 in the subset base-plate 1. The ringer 32 is held against rotation by locating two opposite corners of the ringer base-plate 33 against rigid stops 310 integral with the base-plate 1 and each having a portion extending over the corner of the rigid base-plate 33. Two resilient tongues 39 extend from the ringer base-plate 33 and each locates against a cam 37 forming part of a resilient arm 36 integral with the subset base-plate 1 and lying within an aperture in the base-plate 1. The ringer 32 may be removed by depressing the two resilient arms, moving the resilient tongues 39 over the cams 37 and the corners of the plate 33 away from the rigid stops 310.
