Abstract
1,241,513. Automatic speed control. RANK ORGANIZATION Ltd. Jan. 5, 1970 [Jan. 8, 1969], No. 1205/69. Heading G3R. A servosystem is responsive to a demand signal and a feedback signal, the latter being constituted by a weighted mean of a signal derived directly from an actuator such as an electric motor, and of a signal obtained from the actuator by way of a transducer. In the system shown, a motor 2 driving a load 12 is energized through an amplifier 4. The speed of the motor is controlled by a demand unit 16, the signal V D from which is compared in the amplifier with a feedback signal V A to produce an error signal. A tachogenerator 6 is mechanically coupled to the motor 2 to give a signal V T indicative of the motor speed, and a further signal V M , which may be the back e. m.f. is taken directly from the motor 2. After processing by a phase balancing circuit B and filter F, the signal V M is combined with the signal V T in a weighting circuit W to produce the signal V A . Preferably, a constant or null feedback signal is provided in the tachogenerator resonance region using frequency-dependent weighting. The filter F is necessary because of noise associated with the signal V M , and may be of the R-C bandpass type, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown).
