Abstract

In apparatus for aerating, circulating and purifying water in a tank by means of an airlift pump, the pump uptake 2 consists of two parallel walls 1 extending across the whole width of the tank, and having intake ducts 11 bounded by plates 9 parallel to the bottom of the tank and also extending across it. There is a deflector 4 above the uptake and air jets 6 below it: there may be additional air jets 13 at the entrance to the intake ducts. The uptake and intake ducts may be divided into a plurality of independently functioning sections.
