Heading C2C. o-Hydroxyaryl ethers are prepared by reacting a compound containing the group (X = tertiary nitrogen or thioether sulphur) with a cyclic carbonate of an aromatic odihydroxy compound at 50-300‹ C. The preparation of 2,3-naphthylene carbonate is described.
