Heading C2C. 1,2-Benzoisothiazoles of the Formula I wherein X is a halogen atom and R is a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic, fused aromatic, alkoxy or nitro group or a halogen atom, are obtained by reacting appropriately substituted benzol halides, with ammonia and sulphur.
