Abstract
1,241,031. Table game. T. D. WATERMAN. 15 Jan., 1969 [16 Jan., 1968], No. 2409/68. Heading A6H. An indoor game representing especially soccer but which may also represent rugby, hockey &c comprises a base 10a, marked out as a pitch 12 with a goal 16 at each end, a movable element representing or in the form of a ball and two distinguishable sets of tokens 30 each of which represents a player of a side and is so shaped that the ball may be propelled across the base by striking it with the token, there being printed on the base a plurality of spaced areas 14, 15, 17 called tackling zones, symmetrically arranged on opposite sides of the centre line 13 of the base and there being defined within each tackling zone a location 18 to place a token representing a defending player, the location comprising a boundary shaped to correspond to the shape of the underside of the taken or a part thereof. An additional line 19 may be marked which defines the shooting zone from which a player may attempt to score in the adjacent goal. The ten tokens in each team are as shown in Fig. 3, comprising a base on which one face is vertical for propelling the ball and the opposite face 24 is sloping so that the ball 23 may be pitched up. Both teams have a goal keeper, Fig. 6, who can hold the ball by trapping it under the shelf 25 and whose manipulating rod 26 is slotted through the back netting of the goal, the goal in turn clipping on to the end of the base board. The pitch may be marked out as in soccer and the game played according to the rules thereof, the object being for the token in possession to propel the ball, deflect it against a team-mate within a tackling zone and for the ball to come to rest outside a tackling zone. The new token in possession becomes the deflecting token or any token on his side nearer the ball. If the ball is deflected by an opponent, he gains possession. If the ball comes to rest in a tackling zone the defending team can claim a tackle in which case the defender throws a die which indicates whether the tackle has been won, lost or a foul committed.
