Abstract
1,240,762. Reactor pressure vessels. S. ANDERSSON. 16 May, 1969 [17 May, 1968], No. 25232/69. Heading G6C. A nuclear reactor pressure vessel consists of a thin-walled container 1, supported by the external girders 8, the annular elements 17 and the end walls 4 and 5. The reactor core is supported by the platform 86. The girders are cooled by coolant flow in channels 13, and the rollers 27 permit radial expansion. Coolant tubes may be mounted on the outer surfaces of the container 1, and serve as steam generators and the inner wall may be provided with thermal insulation formed of spaced metal sheets. The end walls 4 and 5 are formed of wedge-shaped rings 24, locked together at 32. A metal sheath 21 is attached to elements 17 to prevent their relative movement. The elements 17 are formed of metal rings 18 held together by bolts 19 and are supported by brackets 20 on girders 8.
