A device for maintaining flat an endless conveyer belt, comprises a rectangular box 14 connected to a vacuum source and positioned beneath the belt 10, sealing strips 52 arranged along the upper side edges of the box in engagement with the underside of the belt and rollers 32, 34, 36, to support the belt on passage over the box. The outermost rollers 32, 36, are sealed at the ends against the sealing strips 52 and engage sealing rods 48 arranged parallel to the rollers in grooves 46 arranged below the rollers in the end walls of the box.
