Abstract
123,950. Naamlooze Vennootschap Werf Conrad. April 29, 1918, [Convention date]. Dredgers.-The suction pipe of sand pump dredgers is hoisted by twc cranes which are rotatably mounted on vertical spindles and tend to be slued inwards by the hoisting ropes during the hoisting operation. The elbow 5 and the upper end of the suction tube 6 are connected to a plate 4 which slides between guide-bars 2, 3 on the vessel 1. The elbow and tube are suspended from the ends of a beam 7 which is connected to a pulley block 8, and the other end of the tube is suspended from a pulley-block 9. The blocks are hoisted by cranes 10, 11 which a.re rotatable about vertical spindles 12, 13, Fig. 2, and are provided with quadrants 14, 15 around which the hoisting ropes 16, 17 pass on their way to the winches 18, 19. The cranes may be locked in the outboard position by bolts 25 which are not withdrawn until the blocks have been raised to their highest position and sufficient tension has been put on the ropes 16, 17 to slue the cranes inwards. The blocks are locked to the cranes in their highest position by the engagement of fingers 22, Fig. 3, with clutches 23 which may be moved apart by levers and a rope 24. Saddles 26 are provided on the deck for the pipe.
