Abstract

1,239,319. Mixing apparatus. F. J. ZUCKER and H. BRUCHMANN. 5 Sept., 1969 [5 Sept., 1968], No. 43954/69. Heading B1C. Apparatus for mixing a granular or pasty material with a liquid avoiding the formation of hemps or agglomerates comprises a screw 4 for advancing the solid material terminating immediately in front of a deflector plate 21 of the rotor 17 of a mixing device, and a pipe 9 arranged to discharge the liquid at the end of the screw; as shown, the pipe extends axially there-through. In order to compress and de-aerate the solid, the screw casing may progressively reduce in diameter and the screw core increase as at 12, and the pitch of the screw (which may be single or multi-start) decrease. The mixer stator and rotor 14, 17 may have interfitting rings 19, 20 providing a tortuous path to the outlet 18.
