Abstract

1,239,213. Transistor amplifying circuits. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 12 July, 1968 [12 July, 1967], No. 31982/67. Headings H3T. A differential amplifier is operatively associated with a plurality of static switching devices which are operated sequentially for drift correction purposes. In Fig. 2, during the correction period when contacts S1 are open and contacts S2 are closed, capacitor C charges up to a voltage of approximately V REF +Ve, where Ve is the off-set voltage existing at that time. During the active period, S2 open and S1 closed, the voltage at V z equals A v (VS1-VS2), where AV is the gain. Thus the variable offset voltage Ve has no effect. As offset drift rates are low and capacitor time constants are high, the amplifier can perform for a relatively long time before a correction period is required. Switches S1 and S2 can be of any required static type, Fig. 3, showing the circuit in integrated circuit form using MOST's.
