Abstract

1,238,927. Model vehicle suspension unit. LESNEY PRODUCTS & CO. Ltd. 2 Dec., 1969 [10 Dec., 1968], No. 58729/68. Heading A6S. A toy vehicle suspension unit comprises a resilient strip 2 which is secured, at a central region thereof, onto a chassis 1, e.g. by dowels 3 so that it extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis thereof, the strip having a plurality of angled lugs 5, 6 formed near at least one end thereof, the lugs and end portion defining a mounting into which is inserted by resilient deformation of the lugs an angle 7 at the end of which wheels 8 are located. A laterally projecting spur 9 may be provided at each end of the end portion to prevent any part of a wheel from fouling the chassis. In one embodiment (not shown) there are two angled lugs not in register with each other which serve to support the axle against displacement in a direction at right angles to the plane of the strip, and the axle is retained against horizontal displacement lengthwise of the strip by downwardly extending lugs located on the strip at positions adjacent the ground wheels. The strip may be formed from an aceta1 plastics material, and the axle may be formed from wire of diameter 0.0025" (0.635 mm.). The wheels 8 are optionally provided with flanges 10 to reduce the groundengaging wheel surfaces.
