Abstract

1,238,699. Tubular heat-exchange elements. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 21 Dec., 1968, No. 60886/68. Heading F4S. A circular heat exchange tube 10 is provided with internal and external integral, axially extending projections 18, 14 respectively. The internal and external surfaces 16, 12 of the tube are sinusoidal in cross-section and dimensioned such that their surface areas are substantially double that of plain circular tubes having diameters DINT and D EXT respectively. As shown the projections 14 are radially aligned with the troughs between adjacent projections 18. Alternatively the projections 14 may be radially aligned with the projections 18 (Fig. 2). The heat exchange tube 10 can be produced, by extrusion.
