Abstract
1,238,260. Vehicle washing apparatus. ADAM ROHE K.G. 28 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 10774/69. Heading B7J. A vehicle-washing brush 1 is horizontally mounted in a frame 2, Fig. 2, and guided by a pair of rollers 12, 13 mounted on the frame 2 and on a pivoted lever 15, and engaging a vertical guide 14. As a horizontal force is applied by a vehicle to displace the brush, the upper end 19 of lever 15 tilts a bell-crank lever 21, Fig. 3, operating a switch 27 actuating a motor which lifts the brush via a cable 8 and a spring-urged bell-crank lever 33 until the brush reaches the top of a vertical surface, when the brush will tend to return from its displaced position, releasing switch 27 to stop the motor. As the brush engages a horizontal surface, the tension in cable 8 is reduced, lever 33 tilts, moving lever 21 to engage the switch 27 to initiate relative horizontal movement between the vehicle and the brush. At the end of the horizontal surface, the increased tension in cable 8 will return levers 33, 21 releasing the switch 27 causing the motor to lower the brush.
