An excavating grab has either three or four jaws which are arranged in the form ofaT, aYor a cross, Figs. 2, 4, 3 respectively, to dig holes of those shapes. As described the grab is operated by a pair of cables which co-operate with pulleys, Fig. 1 (not shown), but any known method of operation may be used.
