Abstract

1236863 Liquefied gas storage containers CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd 31 Oct 1969 53380/69 Heading F4P An above- or in-ground storage container for liquefied gas has a pressure-tight roof 3 from which a ceiling 10, comprising insulated panels 16, is suspended by hangers 9, the panels being free to move relative to each other and the hangers on temperature change. The hangers form a square lattice and each carry a cruciform housing 13 into which frame members 12 are fitted, the panels being mounted on the members by means of flanges 18. A bracket 23 connecting the hanger and housing is provided with spacers 24, the relative dimensions and the coefficients of expansion of the spacers and hangers being such that the ceiling is at a constant height, and centering devices 28 on the ceiling ensure that it is correctly positioned above the storage space defined by itself and a tank 5 which is separated by insulation 4 from an outer tank 2. Alternatively the bracket of each hanger may carry two vertically separated plates between which insulated panels having tubular edges are held. Layers of insulating material 19 may be applied to the panels before or after assembly, and the panels may be triangular.
