Abstract

1,236,720. Ice-making. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 27 May, 1970 [2 June, 1969], No. 25470/70. Heading P4H. An automatic ice-maker 5 in the freezer compartment 2 of a refrigerator is supplied through a conduit with water from a storage tank 8 which is movable between two positions within a fresh food storage compartment 3, the conduit maintaining the connection in both the tank positions. The tank is supported on a sliding shelf 9 and in the shown, normal operating position retains the excess length of conduit as a U-bend in an external recess in the lower wall of the tank. The tank has a spigot for dispensing drink water at the fresh food compartment temperature. As shown, a pump 12 raises water to the ice-maker, or in an alternative arrangement the fresh food compartment is above the freezer compartment and water passes by gravity from the tank under the control of a solenoid valve.
