Abstract

1,236,658. Glazing; frame joints. REDFERN HOLDINGS Ltd. 28 Aug., 1969 [20 Aug., 1968], No. 39690/68. Headings E1J and E1R. A glazing bar for receiving panes 14, 15 on each side thereof comprises a flexible extruded section having opposed grooves 12, 13 to receive the marginal portion of the panes, and a stiffening element, 18 e.g. of metal engaging a formation such as the converging grooves 19, 20 in an outer face of the section so as to be held by the section so that the element 18 will impart a significant degree of stiffness to the section. The element 18 may also be of I section, hollow, or arranged to fit flush with the extruded section. As shown in Fig. 2 several gaskets are secured together, and at their ends the stiffening element 18 projects beyond each end of the extruded section and adjacent projecting portions are joined together by bending them towards the radial planes of the sections and embedding them within the material which forms the join.
