Abstract

1,236,350. Interface unit. F. HOFFMANNLA ROCHE & CO. A.G. 19 Dec., 1969 [17 Jan., 1969], No. 62025/69. Heading A5R. An interface member 10 for attaching an electrode to a human or animal body comprising an electrically insulating member 12 including a recess defining a reservoir 17 and a passage having a self sealing closure 23 normally closing outlet 21 and providing communication between the recess and another surface of the recess, such that an elctrode plug (11) may be located in the closure 23. Closure 23 includes a neck 19 having a normally closed ring-shaped bulge portion 24. The bottom of member 10 has an annular shape 25 covered with an adhesive 26, the whole of the bottom being covered when not in use with a removable impermeable cover 27. The reservoir 27 contains a viscous electrolyte and an electrode 11 for use with the member has a conductive pellet (28) encased in a housing member (29) of epoxy or hard rubber, the pellet being made of silver and silver chloride.
