Abstract
1,236,099. Catalysts. GAS COUNCIL. 17 July, 1969 [25 July, 1968; 20 Sept., 1968; 28 May, 1969], Nos. 35613/68, 44880/68 and 27059/69. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C1] Catalysts comprising a uranium oxide together with a thorium oxide and/or a cobalt oxide (preferable percentages being 5-20, 8-20 and 10-15 respectively, based on the total weight of the catalyst) are prepared, e.g. by thermal decomposition of e.g. nitrates carboxylates or uranates of the particular metals, or if the oxides are to be disposed on a carrier, the carrier surface may be impregnated from a melt or solution of the precursors of the particular metallic oxides, followed by thermal treatment (before use, or in situ under the conditions of use) to form the oxides. The catalysts are used in a process for the removal of sulphur-containing compounds from fluids (see Division Cl)
