Abstract

[Also in Division G2] Deformation images with or without colour changes are formed by providing a layer of liquid crystalline material and imagewise exposing said layer to a mechanical force by means of a stylus, a shaped character head, or pressurised gas applied through a stencil; or to an electrical force by means of a shaped electrode; a modulated electron beam or an ion gun. The liquid crystalline materials specified are cholesterol esters, anisaldazine, p-azoxyphenelole, p-butoxy benzoic acid, p-methoxy-cinnamic acid.
