Abstract

1,235,540. Medicines containing enzymes. ARMOUR PHARMACEUTICAL CO. 2 Dec., 1968, No. 57017/68. Heading A5B. Orally administrable compositions comprise trypsin and/or chymotrypsin in intimate admixture with powdered skim milk, the preparation having a protein content of not more than 1.0 gram per 50,000 AU of enzyme activity. The compositions may contain flavours and may comprise additional medicaments, e.g. penicillin, chloramphenicol tetracycline hydrochloride, sulphisoxazole or sulphaniloamide, which are readily soluble in a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent especially water. The compositions may be dissolved in pharmaceutical liquid carriers for administration, e.g. as a syrup.
