Abstract

Driving-devices.-The automatic traverse of a reciprocating part, such as a grinding-machine table a, driven through a worm e and wormwheel d, is reversed when the traversing part a comes against a stop t or t' by causing the worm e then to act as a screw in engagement with the stationary worm-wheel d and, by its lateral motion, to operate a sliding clutch collar p on the driving-shaft n and reverse the direction of motion of the worm-shaft. The bars u<1>, u, which contact with the stops t<1>, t, may be adjusted through pinions v', v, worm-wheels w', w, and worms x<1>, . The latter are mounted on shafts y<1>, y pivoted at y<3> y<2>, so that the worms may be raised out of contact with the worm-wheels for rapid preliminary adjustment.
