Abstract

1,234,223. Space heaters. J. P. DZIEKONSKI. 21 May, 1968, No. 24162/68. Heading F4S. A heat radiating body member containing a source of heat, intended for use in a space heater, comprises an extruded metal member 3 having an upright wall 6 from which extend rows of integral, twisted fins 38 adapted to provide passages therebetween for an upflowing stream of air which is heated as it flows by natural or forced convection over the fins to an outlet comprising slots 25 controlled by a manually operated damper 26. The extrusion shown is formed with chambers 10, 12 through which a heating fluid is circulated. Alternatively the extrusion may be adapted to receive electric heating elements. The fin structure may consist entirely of the rows of twisted fins (Fig. 8). Alternatively, as shown, it may include upwardly curved longitudinally continuous fins 39 which have air flow apertures 53 therein relatively staggered in adjacent fins. A thin sheet 55 of metal or foil may be bonded to the tips of the fins 38 to improve air flow.
