Counters for coins; counters with recording- apparatus.-In coin-freed apparatus of the type described in Specification 21279/13, provided with counting-mechanism actuated by each coin inserted, and adapted to print the total number of coins on specially prepared slips inserted by the collector before removing the coins, withdrawal of the bolt securing the money box is prevented by a lock, the key of which can only be removed when the bolt is in the shot position. The lock cannot be operated until the paper slips have been inserted, the printing is effected by the withdrawal of the bolt, and the counter is zeroized by the return of the bolt to the shot position. A key-operated barrel h mounted in the bolt f<2> is provided with a flattened portion h<1> which must be turned into alinement with a longitudinal slot h<2> in the casing f<1> before the bolt can be withdrawn; the bolt is withdrawn by turning a knob g which is provided with a pinion g<1> gearing with a rack g<2> in the bolt. The barrel is retained in the locking position by the engagement of spring fingers j in notches i<3>, Fig. 2, in an extension i<1> of the barrel, these spring fingers being disengaged by projections on the end of the key k. A lever l normally serving to prevent the disengagement of one of the spring fingers is moved into the inoperative position by the insertion of the paper slips, the edges of which are bent down to obtain greater rigidity. In the locked position of the parts one arm of a spring q secured to the barrel engages an abutment q<2> on a bracket r; when the barrel is turned, the arm snaps into a recess q<3> in the key and prevents its withdrawal. The other arm of the spring q is moved out of the path of the stop q on the bracket r by the insertion of the key. A frame n carrying a platen n<1> is moved down to effect the printing of the slips by a lever o, which is operated with a cam surface p<2> on a lever p<3> pivoted in a recess p in a plate p<1> secured to the bolt. The counting train c is of the type described in the above mentioned Specification and its spindle d<2> is rotated through bevel gear s, s<1> from a spindle t to zeroize the train when the bolt f<2> is returned to the shot position. A pinion t' loosely mounted on the spindle t gears with the rack g<2> on the bolt and carries a notched disk u with which engages a pawl u<1> on a second disk u<2> secured to the spindle t.
