In a ship's engine-room containing two medium-speed engines 10, 11 geared to a common propeller shaft 14, the longitudinal side wall structures of the engine-room contain vertical pillars 15, 16 which are closed by upper horizontal transverse beams 21 to form frames. The beams carry rails 22 for supporting servicing apparatus 20. Some of the horizontal beams may be interconnected by gratings or platforms on which exhaust gas boilers 23 may be mounted.
