[Also in Division C3] In a process for removing protein from protein-containing waste water, the protein is precipitated under acidic conditions by addition to the waste water of an aliphatic sulphate or sulphonate which is a sulphated or sulphonated fat, fatty oil, fatty acid or fatty alcohol, and the product is separated. The precipitated material may be used as fodder or if from collagen as glue. Examples relate to the use of monolauryl sulphate (optionally plus sodium lignosulphonate) and various sulphonated oils as precipitants.
