Abstract
1,231,584. Improvements in plugs for waste openings. ALLIED IRONFOUNDERS Ltd. 22 May, 1968 [7 June, 1967], No. 26191/67. Heading A4N. A plug for a waste opening, having a grille 9 Fig. 1, of a receptacle such as a bath, basin or sink, comprising a tapered stopper 1, a finger grip for positioning and removal thereof in the form of a disc 2 .parallel with and spaced from the upper surface 3 of the stopper by a short column 4, and a shank 5 extending from the lower surface of the stopper having integral resilient protuberances 6 and 7 which cooperate with the grille 9 to enable the stopper to be held in the open position. The plug, if the members 5-7 are relatively rigid, may be used in combination with a grommet 10, Fig. 3, located in the grille and having longitudinal slots 11 and an internal bead 12 at its lower end, the slots 11 enabling the diameter of the lower end of the grommet to be altered as the shank of the plug is moved therethrough. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the shank is secured to the plug by adhesive and the protuberances thereon are hollow and resilient.
