Abstract
1,230,210. Hand-tool handles. B.I.G (CONCESSIONAIRES) Ltd. 12 Dec., 1968, No. 59160/68. Heading B4K. [Also in Division B3] A hand-tool handle, e.g. a screwdriver, awl or gimlet handle 1, is constructed of transparent material and constitutes a spirit level comprising liquid 2, bubble 3 and a flat 4 for resting on a surface to be tested for level. The handle may be provided at its end remote from that for reception of the tool bit, with a counterweight 6 to prevent it tilting under the weight of the tool bit. The handle, which may be of transparent plastics, e.g. acrylic, may have a square cross-section, and may interchangeably receive different tool bits. The spirit 2 and bubble 3 may be received in a bore of the handle, or alternatively such bore may receive a phial containing the spirit and bubble. In cases where no counter-weight is provided, the handle may be of such size or shape as to prevent its tilting.
