Abstract

1,229,949. Advancing mine roof supports. GULLICK DOBSON Ltd. 7 Oct., 1969 [26 Nov., 1968], No. 55943/68. Heading E1P. In an arrangement of side-by-side advancing mine roof supports, a conveyor C serving as an anchorage for the advancing hydraulic rams, is provided with a guide rail 14 which receives clevises 13 attached to the advancing rams, parts 17 of the clevises which project into the rail being connected together by a chain 19. A ram may be connected to the chain for sliding the clevises along the rail in an uphill direction, hydraulic rams being provided between adjacent supports for correct positioning normal to the face. To vary the position of the advancing rams, as a whole, relative to the conveyor, the end of each ram remote from the conveyor is connected to holed angle members (23, Fig. 5) mounted internally and on opposite sides of the base structure of each support.
