Abstract

1,229,795. Crash barriers. CHRISTIANI & NIELSEN Ltd. and G. PERSICKE. 17 June, 1968 [16 Aug., 1967], No. 37791/67. Heading E1G. A support for a crash barrier rail or cables comprises a plate 3 pivoted to a socket 11 loose on the upper end of an inclined arm 12 disengageably hinged for limited angular movement on a base 13 so that on impact the arm 12 rises over top dead centre. The hinge comprises a horizontal rod or tube secured to the arm 12 and loosely inserted in a cylindrical socket 15 having an arcuate gap 18-19 providing end stops for the arm. The base 13 is preferably anchored by yieldable e.g. soft iron bolts. The plate 3 may have a slidable dovetail connection 21 to the pivot brackets 7, and carries brackets or sleeves for the barrier rail or cables. (For Figure see next column)
