Abstract
1,228,602. Transmission line filter networks. SINCLAIR RADIO LABORATORIES Inc. 13 June, 1968 [14 June, 1967], No. 28177/68. Heading H1W. A notch filter for passing and rejecting two closely spaced frequencies comprises a signal transmission line 1 coupled to a quarter-wave resonator 2 by a quarter-wave section 4 and a variable reactance, e.g. a stub 3, similarly coupled to the line. By virtue of the impedanceinverting properties of section 4, the resonator creates a high impedance at point A at the resonant frequency which is to be transmitted. The combined effect of resonator 2 and reactance 3 produces an antiresonance which causes a short-circuit to appear at point A at the frequency to be rejected. The response of the filter may be varied by varying the coupling 10 of the resonator 2. The resonator 2 preferably has a high Q. The stub 3 may be replaced by a capacitor or an inductor. The network may be used in a duplexer arrangement comprising a transmitter and a receiver coupled to a common antenna and utilizing closely adjacent frequency bands.
