Abstract
1,228,558. Piece of jewellery. G. ALBERT. 27 Feb., 1970 [5 March, 1969], No. 9550/70. Heading A3H. A piece of jewellery, such as a finger ring, ear ring and the like, comprises a housing 1 in which a gem 2 or other decorative piece (which may be spherical, cubical &c.) is able to slide. The end 3 of the housing is open to allow the gem to be seen but has a raised portion 5 to prevent the gem from passing through the opening. At the other end there is an aperture 4 through which the gem is inserted or withdrawn. In the case of a finger-ring, the wearer's finger locks the gem in place, but other embodiments have some mechanical locking device such as a spring ring.
