Abstract

1,227,983. Furnace linings. COUPE & TIDMAN Ltd. 25 April, 1969 [29 April, 1968], No. 20321/68. Heading F4B. A lining for a furnace comprises at least two elongated support members 2 bolted to a surrounding casing 1, and two sets of refractory tiles 40, 41 spaced apart to provide an air gap and releasably mounted between said support members. As shown, in the lining for the wall of the furnace, each support member comprises two elongated bodies 3, 20 supported in parallel juxtaposed side by side arrangement, one of the elongated bodies 3 being rigidly attached to the frame 1 of the furnace and the other elongated body 20 being formed as a beam and engaging and mounting the two sets of tiles. For a furnace ceiling (see Fig. 2, not shown), the beams are releasably suspended from the attached bodies.
