Abstract
1,227,433. Junction boxes; supporting electric cables. G. BERGER, H. SCHUETZGER and B. BUSER-WECHSLER, [trading as BUFIX KONSORTIUM]. 24 April, 1968, No. 19269/68. Headings H2C and H2E. A junction box comprises a housing 1, containing connector strips 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, so that interconnections may be made between the conductors of cables 13<SP>1</SP> (13, Fig. 5), cables 13 entering the box via the terminal caps 6. An earthing terminal 8<SP>1</SP> is also provided. A socket 3 is provided as an electrical outlet for a pin-type plug, or for connection of other apparatus, and may be directly connected to cable 13<SP>1</SP> as shown. Cable 13<SP>1</SP> may alternatively be a through cable. A carrier head (1<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6) comprises carrier members (4, 4<SP>1</SP>) and a suspension roller (5) so that the junction box may be supported by the support cables (11), or a single cable (11), Fig. 5 (not shown), may pass under the roller 5 which may be formed as a combination cable with cable 13. A hook E and chain F are provided to hoist the equipment into place, and Fig. 1 shows a highpressure mercury vapour lamp fitting G connected to the junction box via a transformer H. Figs. 7 and 8 show means for supporting the combination cable (B, D) from a steel hanger 21, bent over to embrace a hinge pin 19, supporting strap members 16 and 17. For outdoor use the suspension roller (5, Fig. 6) may be replaced by a transverse carrier of substantial length, for securing the junction box against wind pressure, and a further cable outlet (C, Fig. 1) may be provided.
